IELTS International English Language Testing System

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is one of the most widely recognized tests of the English language proficiency across the globe. It has been conceived in order to assess the competence of the non-native English speakers to effectively communicate in English in order to study, work and migrate. The test is recognized by universities, employers and immigration departments of countries like the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

IELTS tests four levels of language abilities, namely, Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Listening, Reading and Writing are completed in a day but Speaking assessment is completed in the form of face-to-face conversation with an authorized examiner. The test is used to measure the ability of a candidate to comprehend spoken English, read different types of text, write thorough and effective written statements and participate actively and confidently in oral communication.

IELTS is administered by the British council, IDP education and Cambridge assessment English. The results are rated on a band scale of 0-9 hence stating the general level of mastering English by the candidate.
